Save On GrowSpan Greenhouse Costs: 2023 Kit Prices

GrowSpan Greenhouse Structures was founded in 1979 and has been delivering greenhouses across the United States ever since. Today, the company is based in Connecticut, but delivers a variety of different greenhouses across the United States.

They’re also famous for offering quality structures, including turnkey tunnel, Venlo, and cold-frame greenhouses. But, if you’re looking at GrowSpan greenhouses, how much do they cost?

Unfortunately, the cost of a GrowSpan Greenhouse will change depending on which greenhouse you choose. However, if you choose GrowSpan greenhouse kits, prices start at $7,605 for a 20x20x10 greenhouse and go up to $27,789 for a 38x72x15 greenhouse.

If you want a Venlo or other non-tunnel greenhouse, you’ll have to get a custom quote.

What Are GrowSpan Greenhouses?

GrowSpan is a greenhouse brand that started out in 1979 offering tunnel greenhouse kits. Today, the brand has expanded to deliver Venlo, traditional, peaked, and modular greenhouses as well.

Its commercial and industrial greenhouses are one of the most popular in the United States.

In addition, GrowSpan offers both greenhouse kits and bespoke solutions. For example, its Venlo and high-peaked greenhouses are made to order and installed on-site.

You can also purchase tunnel and traditional greenhouse kits for flat-rate prices and install them yourself.

GrowSpan Greenhouse Cost Estimates*

A GrowSpan Greenhouse kit costs a flat rate, which means you can easily price it online. However, if you want a Venlo or other made-to-order greenhouse, you’ll have to call for a quote.

In addition, the actual costs of your greenhouse kit will depend on delivery and other costs.

GrowSpan Greenhouse Price Factors

The cost of your GrowSpan Greenhouse will depend on several factors, especially the greenhouse you choose to buy.

The following goes into each factor in depth.

Model

GrowSpan produces a lot of different greenhouses and all of them offer slightly different features and equipment. This means that even the same size of a different model will cost a different amount of money.

For example, if you look at the charts above, the GrowSpan Round Pro 20x20x10’7” costs $7,605 for a propane system and the GrowSpan Round Premium costs $9,189 for the same size and system.

This means you’ll have to look at which features and build materials you want and select the model before you can fully price your greenhouse.

Type of Greenhouse

GrowSpan offers most types of greenhouses and this can greatly impact the price. For example:

  • Traditional Greenhouses – $10-$15 per square foot
  • Tunnel Greenhouses – >$10 per square foot
  • Venlo Greenhouses – $25+ per square foot
  • Cold Frames – >$10 per square foot
  • Shade Structures – >$4 per square foot

This means you’ll have to figure out which type of greenhouse you want before you can calculate general costs. Most of GrowSpan’s kits are tunnel and traditional kits, typically with cold frames.

Materials

There’s a large difference in costs between using polycarbonate versus glass, steel versus aluminum, etc. GrowSpan offers a wide range of materials so you can build an installation that fits your business needs and budget.

However, all GrowSpan kits include polycarbonate with optional corrugated steel and cold steel frames. Frames are also galvanized to ensure that they don’t rust or degrade in the damp.

If you opt for a custom build, you can also opt for glass instead. However, this is mostly only common with traditional and Venlo greenhouses.

Construction Type

GrowSpan offers multiple greenhouse kits which you can buy for flat rate prices.

The brand also offers custom builds, which they will make to order and deliver to your construction site.

  • Prefab Kits – Prefabricated kits that are all made to the exact specifications and standards. These are extremely affordable because manufacturing costs are low. However, you are responsible for ensuring the building meets the specifications and requirements for your local weather and environment. Delivery times are usually 6-14 days.
  • Custom Prefab – Made to order, normally with a delivery time of 30-90 days. These cost more than prefabricated kits because they are one-off builds and require engineering to ensure they meet the specifications of your local environment, wind, snow load, etc.

A custom greenhouse might cost twice as much as a prefab kit.

However, you might actually need it depending on your environment, building requirements, etc.

Size

The larger your greenhouse, the more you’ll pay for the full building. However, the less you’ll pay per square meter.

In addition, not all GrowSpan kits are priced based on size. For example, some lengths of steel are more expensive than others.

Therefore, there may only be small cost differences between one size and another. For example, you can upgrade from a 30 x 48 x 12 GrowSpan Round Premium to a 30 x 60 x 12 GrowSpan Round Premium for only $400 extra.

This means that if you want to buy as large as you can, it’s a good idea to look at costs around the size you’re buying to try to get the best deal.

What’s Included

GrowSpan manufactures not just greenhouses and kits but also environmental controls and greenhouse systems. The more equipment you need, the more you can expect the kit to cost.

However, most GrowSpan kits don’t come with the systems included. Instead, you’re expected to find and buy those separately.

  • Fuel Systems
  • Controllers
  • Heating, Cooling & Ventilation
  • Humidity Control
  • Evaporative Cooling
  • Lighting
  • CO2 Enrichment
  • Benches
  • Irrigation
  • Odor Mitigation
  • Propagation Systems
  • Nutrient Monitoring & Control Systems
  • Alarm Systems
  • Insect Filtration

Each of these will add to the cost of your total project, but may be necessary depending on what you’re growing.

Delivery

You may or may not have to worry about delivery costs.

However, if you’re in a remote area, delivery costs may be in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Why Choose GrowSpan?

GrowSpan is a respected brand with 40+ years to back it.

Most of its greenhouses also come with warranties, including 10-year warranties on polycarbonate film. Even low-cost tunnels typically come with a 4-year warranty on film, which is very good for the industry.

GrowSpan also offers a complete service, with greenhouses, turnkey installation, equipment, and control systems available. This means you can order a greenhouse to specs and have it set up and ready to go by one company.
