Future Buildings, headquartered in Ontario, Canada, began as a small company that produced Quonset-style buildings for farmers. Founded in 1981, they’re a family-owned and operated company that provides a wide range of steel buildings, roofing systems and even container covers.
Today they serve at least 13 states in the U.S. and all of the Canadian provinces.
Future Buildings Services
The amount of steel building types that Future Buildings offers is impressive, but they also have a variety of finishes and customization options to choose from.
Steel Garage Kits
Each garage kit Future Buildings offers comes with engineer-certified plans and a 40-year rust perforation warranty. The finished garages can be 10’ to 40’ wide.
Metal Workshops And Storage
Future Buildings workshops can be customized from 10’ to 100’ wide, while their storage kits can be customized to whatever size you need. The steel features a Galvalume Plus™ coating, a metal alloy that’s a mix of 55% aluminum and 45% zinc.
The storage kits use prefab arches, which maximizes the space inside.
Their metal workshops can also be customized with the following:
- Turbine vents
- Man doors (overhead, sliding, and standard service)
- Permanent and portable foundation options
Like all Future Buildings’ steel buildings, the workshops and storage buildings can be designed to meet the snow and seismic load requirements for your specific location.
Carports
Each carports kit is custom-built for your project – no off the shelf kits here. They are single radius, clear span structures that don’t need a concrete foundation.
Future Buildings’ carports range in size from 12’ to 25’ wide, while the length is basically unlimited. They are fire resistant, seven times more rust resistant than regular galvanized steel, and the price includes certified engineered drawings designed specifically for your region and property.
Steel Quonset Huts And Barns
A Quonset hut doesn’t have interior columns or braces; instead, it relies on the curvature of its arches. Because there are fewer parts needed, they can be assembled faster and more easily. They’re great as agricultural buildings and barns.
Future Buildings offers four styles of Quonset hut kit:
- A-style – straight sides and a peaked roof. Available in 16’-40’ widths.
- Q-style – traditional, semi-circular build, no straight walls. Available in 16’-125 widths.
- S-style – straight walls and an arched roof. Available in 10’-75’ widths.
- X-style – sloped walls and a peaked roof. Available in 20’-60’ widths.
Commercial Steel Buildings
Whether you’re a small business just getting started or an established group looking to expand, Future Building’s can design a custom structure that meets your business needs. They’ll even ensure that your building meets all of your specific local building codes.
They’ve worked with NovaGold Resources, Inc., Cartier Resources, Hondo Minerals, and thousands more. There’s no price list available for commercial buildings since each one is completely custom; Future Buildings recommends contacting them directly for a quote.
Container Covers
Future Buildings doesn’t offer shipping containers, but they can provide covers for those you already have. They can be customized for any length and can be between 20 and 60 feet wide (in five-foot increments).
These arching metal covers can even be customized to include skylights and insulation.
Roofing Systems
Future Buildings provides prefabricated roofing systems in multiple styles that are easily customizable. Each one is coated with Galvalume Plus™, comes with a 40-year rust perforation warranty, and will be designed to fit your local building codes.

Future Buildings Reviews & Rating
The Better Business Bureau gives Future Buildings an A+ rating and considers it an accredited business. They do, however, have a large number of complaints through BBB. Common complaints appear to be poor communication with customer representatives and hard selling tactics.
On the other hand, several other review sites have given them better ratings which are based on a higher number of reviews than BBB. Positives include knowledgeable representatives, easy delivery, and quality materials.
BBB – 1.8/5 (based on 10 reviews)
Verified Reviews by Skeepers – 4.4/5 (based on 210 reviews)
HomeStars – 8.6/10 (based on 136 reviews)
Customer Testimonials
Here’s what real customers are saying about Future Buildings:
GGW, HomeStars – “This is the second building I have purchased from Future Buildings. The quality is excellent, installation instructions quite clear, and my phone calls to Kevin in Engineering for information and technical assistance have been returned right away and he is very pleasant and helpful.” (10/10 rating)
Anonymous review, Verified Reviews – “Once the order was made, the communication with customer service and our sales rep was good. They responded quickly and efficiently. We may be in contact with them in the near future for other storage accessories. The delivery man was so nice and patient, he made sure he called me and assured me it was on site and with no problems. He made my day […] Thank you to the entire team who was involved in making this purchase a reality.” (4/5 rating)
Ryan S., BBB – “Saw one of their buildings online asking to make a bid, advertising that the building was already 1/2 price. So I made a bid, then was contacted right away and pushed into making a deposit. Once the salesman contacted me and I told him what I wanted to do with the building, I soon realized it would not work as it wasn’t high enough. I asked for a refund on my deposit but was told it was non refundable [sic].” (1/5 rating)
Pros
- Wide range of products: The number of kits designed for specific purposes (instead of a “one style fits all” approach) is impressive. They also offer more customization and add-ons than some of their competitors, so you’re likely to find something to suit your needs, whatever they may be.
- Quonset hut specialization: Specifically offering Quonset hut-style buildings is an interesting and uncommon service that Future Buildings provides. The fact that they have so many styles of these huts is also impressive.
- Includes certified drawings: Some steel building providers do not include the price of engineered drawings, including them as an add-on after a quote. Future Buildings, however, claims that their quoted prices include certified drawings designed specifically for your location and property.
Cons
- No construction services offered: Many steel building providers only ship the materials and don’t include the actual installation. However, some will work with their clients to find a local contractor to help with assembly if needed. Future Buildings does not appear to offer any kind of assistance when it comes to installation.
- Too much hard selling – A common complaint of Future Buildings is their tendency to be pushy when it comes to sales. Customer reviews state that sales representatives are aggressive in their sales tactics and will also call and email to an absurd degree in an attempt to make a sale.
- Non-refundable deposits: While a common practice on its own, when combined with potentially overzealous sales tactics, non-refundable deposits become an issue. Several customer reviews stated that they felt pressured into placing a deposit before they could thoroughly review the company’s products and services. They were then extremely disappointed when key information was left out of their inquiries that made Future Buildings an unsuitable choice but could not get their deposit back.
